ILP #1 Design- Digital Story Telling

http://zimmertwinsatschool.com/node/157196?designated=new I decided to make a digital story by using the Web 2.0 application, zimmer. This help give me the tools and guidance to create my own digital story, along with  "50 Ways to Tell a Story". The story is about a young boy, named Edgar and a young girl named Eva, who are best friends and share a book together. Edgar keeps the book in safe hiding but then realizes he lost it, only then to find it just in the nick of time before Eva comes, and they head to the park! This project was fun and allowed me to think creatively and use a tool that I had never used before!

ILP #2 "design"- Prezi

https://prezi.com/view/2Sb7ONisVsUhnOeh4qSy/ For this independent learning project, I decided to do a presentation using prezi, to create a project on creative writing. I have always loved how writing allows people to express themselves through creative language and is something I look forward to doing with my future students.  This presentation goes over some of the basic aspects of creative writing and includes tips, videos, pictures, and prompts to get students started on their own masterpieces.

Blog Journal #10

Blog Journal #10 (Thank you Ginny, You rock!)  I think as teacher, especially one who has just started their career, it is important to get feedback from students on certain thing you do in the classroom. This way, you can improve for future students and understand why some thing do or do not work for students. I have noticed here at Florida State, that we have to participate in surveys the end of the semester which ask you questions bout the class and professor  I think this is a great way to get an idea of what the students might think of the class overall. In my classroom, since I plan on doing early childhood education, I think that surveys can be used in subject areas like math to create data and bar graphs. I think it could also be used as a way to bring students together to establish their likes and dislikes, and also creating commonalities between students. It can be a great tool to help bring students wi...

Technology and Teacher Professional Development

1.) I learned that new technologies and staying up to date on the latest tools is vital for the success of the students both now and in the future. There are so many tools on the internet that can help teacher be succesful and professional development. Implementing the technologies in the classroom will not only help students education but also help them be prepared for life. 2.) Viewing the bookmarks of other people is easy and effective. I find it interesting to see how different people interpret different technologies and their ideas of how they can be used in the classroom. It is a great way to communicate different resources with other teacher and get their take on why a site is and important resource for educators.

Adaptive technologies are technologies and applications that are meant to help student with specific learning needs and extrinites learn to the best of their ability. They support learners as they are meant to help students grow and succeed in the best way possible through various technologies that are meant to cater to each students unique needs. I think some challenges that these adaptive technolgies pose for students, especially in the younger grades, is that students may feel that they arent all getting the same treatment or oppurtunties. While it is great for learning, students may be sensitive to the fact that everyones challanges and needs are different, which can be a hard concept to grasp at a young age. Blooms taxonomy is a hierarchy that encourages students and teachers to implement a higher level of learning in the classroom. Blooms taxonomy serves as almost a guideline for teachers so they can focus on helping their students use a higher...

A paragraph discussing your experience with Twitter so far. What have you learned from using Twitter?  What are the benefits of using Twitter?  Are you experiencing any issues? A paragraph on new skills you acquired from working on the Web Page Design assignment and reflect what you like about it/what you don’t like about it. How you can improve it next time and how what you learned from the assignment can be used in your future career?  Post a screenshot and link to your website . A paragraph on the new skills you learned from working with Diigo.  How can this application be useful in your classroom, with team members, and in your individual professional efforts. Since the creation of our twitter pages, I have enjoyed being able to see other class members thoughts and feelings as we move through the semester. I found that we have a lot of similar ideas about things like the technology sandbox and the projects we have done in class. I think the twitters are g...

http://garrityd.wixsite.com/garrityclass On the main page of the website there are flashing pictures of the students and other things that are in relation to the classroom. For parents, there is all of the teacher information and contact information on the home page as well. The main page also features a section that displays "important information". This is very helpful in keeping the parents in the loop in a easy to read, accessible way. Since it is a first grade classroom the site is directed more for parents and guardians to use rather than students.  Being someone who struggled staying organized as a young girl, I really hope to make things clear for both the parents and students. I want parents to have easy access to important information and be updated on the things going on in the classroom. I will create an updated calendar and be sure to post about important events, homework, and other things going on in the classroom. For myself, I will d...
