Blog Post 4


I have thought that the twitter has been a really fun, accessible  and easy way of connecting with people in EME2040. I have been able to read about so many different students thoughts and experiences uses the hashtag. I also like being able to see previous students of EME2040 tweets about the class in the main feed for the hashtag. Overall I think that is it a beneficial because it creates ann easy way of communicating with other students in the class.
The digital divide definitely does affect students success in different schools. I think there is an expectation that all kids have access to technology, but unfortunately that isnt the case. Students who dont have access to technology at home tend to have a harder time learning in school and using the computer and programs. There are many causes of the digital divide but I think it depends a lot on socioeconomics because certain students are unable to use devices and technology outside the classroom due to whatever their home situations might be. I think as a teacher, it is important to always remember that not all students have the same knowledge of technology and any dont have acesss, so it is important to really use technology the classroom to make them more comfortable and knowledgeable when using devices in the future.
I expect to use all of the softwares as some point in the classroom. I will definitely put more emphasis on programs liek word and powerpoint, because i think they are useful for all sorts of things in the future and the now. Because I intend on being a 4th grade teacher, i think it is important to introduce the basics of these programs to the students, especially because they will be using them more and more as they continue through 4th grade and on. I would focus on trying to make them comfortable with creating pages on word and using things like a title and doing basic things on powerpoint.

   The technology standards of today are important for not only the student, but the teacher as well. There is a much higher demand for technology literacy than ever before and with that educators are expected to meet certain technology based standards and have specific certifications. Since I struggled in school with learning how to read and had trouble staying focused, I understand that different students have different needs when it comes to learning. ILP #2 "design"- Prezi

I have always loved how writing allows people to express themselves through creative language and is something I look forward to doing with my future students.  This presentation goes over some of the basic aspects of creative writing and includes tips, videos, pictures, and prompts to get students started on their own masterpieces.

ILP #1 Design- Digital Story Telling

This help give me the tools and guidance to create my own digital story, along with  "50 Ways to Tell a Story". The story is about a young boy, named Edgar and a young girl named Eva, who are best friends and share a book together. Edgar keeps the book in safe hiding but then realizes he lost it, only then to find it just in the nick of time before Eva comes, and they head to the park! This project was fun and allowed me to think creatively and use a tool that I had never used before!
